Hi beauties! I am super excited about this post because it is my review of the highly anticipated– at least for me it was– Summer Fridays Jet Lag mask. Summer Fridays is an indie brand started by bloggers/influencers Marianna Hewitt and Lauren Gores Ireland. Those ladies are constantly on the go and developed this mask with natural ingredients, to combat tired, dull skin. After meeting them, I learned Lauren was expecting when they were creating it so it had to be super safe for her to test; now, if its safe enough for a pregnant woman to use, it’s more than safe enough for me! I’ve been using the mask for 5 days now so I feel like I have a good handle on the mask. Keep reading to find out more!
As someone who has insomnia, and is pretty much always tired, I couldn’t wait to try this. I also have dry skin which makes me look even more tired and dulled out. I try and keep up with it but sometimes it gets a bit difficult and costly. I have to make sure the product I use wont cause breakouts, so a lot of trial and error happens here. It helps to know that this is formulated to work well with acne prone skin (like mine, ugh) so that’s one major plus for Summer Fridays.
As soon as I got the mask, I used it. It has no scent to it which was shocking to me because it comes out as a thick, cream like substance and in my experience “creams” use fragrances. Once you apply it to your skin, you will instantly feel like a cooling sensation which feels pretty awesome. I was afraid to go to sleep with it my first night because it was so heavy but, my skin absorbed the product after a few minutes. The next day and every day after, I decided to use the mask as a primer. Yup. You read that correctly; PRIMER! In the mornings after washing my face, I would apply an even layer on my face, focusing on the under eye area. Then I would go and get dressed, do my hair, drink some coffee and gather my stuff. After about 10-15 minutes, I would lightly dab away any excess product with a cotton pad. Lastly, I’d go in and apply my makeup normally.
What I noticed about using it as a primer, is that there is much less creasing in my smile lines and under eye area. I’ve tried it under a couple of foundations and the creasing is almost non existent. Even under my Tarte Shape Tape foundation which creases like crazy under my eyes and in my smile lines, the creasing was very minimal (almost none). This is what truly sold me to be honest because I am sick of having makeup sit in my smile lines or creasing up under my eyes– it’s just not cool!
Now, I cant say it has permanently changed my skin, and this is because I haven’t been using it long enough. But I will say that when I wear it, whether it’s under my makeup or alone, my skin looks healthy and dewy. Maybe with time my skin will become more hydrated, even and glowy on its own, but I guess we’ll have to keep using it to find out!
The mask is a bit pricey– $48 USD on their site or at Sephora. However, I don’t regret purchasing it and I do recommend it for anyone who has dull skin, or is sick of creasing makeup. For anyone already consulting a dermatologist, I will always recommend you ask your derm first.
That’s all for now beauties! Until next post!!♦♦♦♦♦
