Hi beauties! Today I wanted to take some time to update you on my skin. I’m not sure if I mentioned this in an earlier post, but since my move, my skin has been breaking out horribly. They seem to be cystic, very painful and I also got tons of small little ones along my jawline and cheek area. Nothing I did was working, none of my regular routine products were helping and even though I drank a million gallons of water per day my skin was still rebellious.
After weeks of no results I decided to take some slightly drastic measures; I bought a detox supplement from Sephora and signed up for Curology. Keep reading for more details on which worked and which didn’t.
- Curology— This is a website in which you can upload pictures of yourself, answer questions about your skin concerns/issues and a specialist will customize an acne regiment specifically for you. I signed up for this after reading reviews and going through the pictures and testimonials they have on the site. What attracted me was that they were up front about it not working overnight. So right off the bat, I knew I had to be patient. I liked that the bottle I received had my name and specific medication to target my issues. After the first week, there was no change, week two rolled up and yeah, maybe one less but nothing to write home about. Finally after about week three I started to see some change. Thanks to this change, I have been able to stress less about my skin. Now I am going on week four and one side of my face is practically clear, save a few scars. I use my specific bottle every night after cleansing my face. I still have some work to do on my face but we are making so much progress! I recommend this product, however sometimes acne medication can be too strong for some people. The site and the provider who works with you will guide you and send you tons of details on what to do and how to start off. They also have a “community” where you can share your journey with others and it is a great support system. I recently sent my specialist an update and am waiting to hear what she says. 🙂
- HUM Daily Cleanse— This is a supplement that I got from Sephora. I decided that since none of my masks and external treatments were helping, I should try to fix the problem from the inside. I thought that maybe I need to do a detox for the sake of my skin (and lets face it, my sanity). This also mentions that it takes time to work which makes sense. I took this for 2 weeks and noticed that the supplements were making me “break out” or secrete a lot more whiteheads. During week 3 they continued but much less. I didn’t really start to notice a change in my skin until after I started using the Curology night time regiment (I started the supplements 2 weeks prior). I decided to stop using this and I started to see quicker improvement. This supplement does contain milk thistle which has caused me to break out in the past. I think this is a good product, and based on what I’ve read it does work for some people but it just didn’t do much for me. For $25, I was hoping it worked better for me and my skin. Oh! FYI if you do decide to try this, make sure you take it with tons of water because the taste and smell are horrendous!
There are a couple of other products I am currently using but these are the two that I am (or was) mainly using to target my acne. I’ve stI’ll be sure to keep you updated on my skincare journey!
Until next post! ♥♥
