Fave Reds *

Hi beauties! Today I want to talk about my favorite red lippies 🙂 I don’t typically wear red lipsticks very often, but sometimes I do like to throw a good one on to add a pop of color to my day. Keep reading to find out my current “go-to” reds!

  1. Jeffree Star’s REDRUM($18)- This matte liquid lipstick is a cool tone red and definitely dries down completely. I like to line my lips when I use this one to help me “stay in the lines” if you will. It’s not drying at all (which some tend to be) and it is super long lasting. I love how pigmented this is and how it feels.
  2. Mary Jo K Lip Kit($29)- Another matte liquid lipstick, and it is also a cool tone red. This one is very similar to REDRUM, but a bit darker, especially when it dries down. I love the lip kit because it comes with the matching lip liner. I feel it’s important to use a lipliner with certain lipsticks, especially if they are highly pigmented. It is a little drying but a good trick is to use a little bit of lip balm 5-10 minutes before applying it, allowing the balm to sink into your lips, which primes them as well.
  3. Pat McGrath Labs MatteTrance Lipstick- Obsessed!($38)- I haven’t had this one for long, but it is super nice and so far I love it! I’ve been dying for a red-orange lipstick and I’m so glad I went with the Pat McGrath. This is a limited edition item (according to sephora), so if you are interested I say go for it! It applies matte, and even though it is not drying it also doesn’t feel hydrating. I guess you can say it feels as if you aren’t wearing anything at all!
  4. Make Up For Ever Aqua Lip Liner($20)- Ok, so this isn’t a lipstick, but I do like to line my lips with a good liner. This is a very pigmented liner and it helps the lipstick last longer on the lips (probably because it’s waterproof). It glides on very easily and it actually matches the REDRUM lippie really well.

One huge tip that helps with applying really any lipstick, is to exfoliate your lips beforehand. I currently use the Fresh Sugar Lip Polish ($24), not everyday, but I would say 3 times a week. I have very flaky lips and this helps remove all the dead skin (ew), and with a smoother application. Other brands, like Jeffree Star Cosmetics, also have lip scrubs as well, though I haven’t tried his yet!

That’s all for today lovelies! I think I’m going to try and expand my red lip collection so feel free to let me know of any red lippies you may love. Until next post!♥♥
